At Lee Brothers Cabinets and Joinery, we are renowned for our history of expertise with timber. We specialise in the use of natural wood for its versatile, traditional, sustainable, and attractive qualities that surpass any other construction material.
Lee Brothers’ master craftspeople can create anything out of natural woods, from doors to windows to staircases. No project is too small! We are also one of a handful of businesses in the country that can restore heritage furniture and doors.
We have a unique combination of commitment to training and up-skilling our craftspeople. Our apprentice programme and Master Joiners membership means that centuries-old timber craft skills will be preserved for generations to come. We even have some original and fully functional woodworking tools dating back to our beginnings in 1926.
Based out of our fully kitted out workshop in Rotorua, we provide the highest quality timber joinery to the wider Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions.
What is Timber Joinery?
Timber joinery is a broad term for a traditional woodworking technique for connecting beams of wood. The most common joinery examples would be wooden doors, windows and staircases. At Lee Brothers we work with a wide range of different timbers and have a large and fully equipped workshop to deal with most timber joinery requirements.
Joinery Materials
There is a wide range of both native and imported/exotic woods available here at Lee Brothers. Each wood has its own unique properties, for example, some are more suited to exterior use versus interior, some are more dense and better for higher use such as door sills, and of course the decorative qualities and colours of the wood. New Zealand-sourced timbers we work with include pine, rimu and redwood. We also work with a number of imported woods, such as western red cedar, rosewood, accoya, American white oak, American white ash, kwila, and jara, to name just a few. We can even work with your wood supplied to us, or help source your desired timber. If you’re not sure yet, we have a wide range of samples to view in our showroom.
