An Unparalleled Retreat
Lakeside glamour with contemporary touches...
White oak, stainless steel and industrial elements add modern luxury to this magnificent Rotorua lakeside retreat.
Scope
One of Lee Brothers’ largest residential projects to date, we were engaged by the client to create all bespoke joinery and cabinetry for their grand new-build home, right on the shore of Lake Rotorua.
Challenges
Owing to both the size and high-level specifications of the project, there were several technical challenges to overcome that required our unmatched expertise. For example, an enormous double glazed, 4-slider door providing indoor/outdoor flow from the living area that would be 6 metres wide and 3 metres tall. The opening weighed 800kg and needed to slide effortlessly by just one person, to make the wall ‘disappear’ and allow spectacular, unimpeded lake views.
Special features
Setting the tone for the rest of the home is the impressive 3m high, 2.2m wide front door. This was crafted from cedar battens on a smooth pivot hinge, an incredible feat of engineering for a domestic residence. Matching this throughout the house are several concealed sliding doors. The cabinetry echoes the minimalist, industrial-yet-warm feel, by pairing American white oak veneers with stainless steel accents in the vanities and kitchen.
Highlights
Among the many highlights of this home is the spacious laundry room. Sleek, minimalist cabinetry pairs with stainless steel fixtures and stone benchtops to create a clean, pleasing space. Floating stainless steel and white oak vanities in the bathroom blend seamlessly with the high-end bathroom fixtures and décor, while matching the rest of the house. The full-length serving hatch separates the kitchen and living areas while maintaining flow and light levels, ideal for hosting and entertaining guests.
Feedback
The client has been thrilled with their new home, offering them idyllic lake views in a grand, modern home that we are sure will continue to impress for many years to come.
